Anne Arundel County offers a wide range of places to ride for riders of all ages, abilites, and interests. BikeAAA offers some suggestons for places to ride categorized by the type of rider and the type of riding.
Beginners, young children, shorter casual rides
Try one of the county parks like Kinder Farm, Quiet Waters, Ft. Smallwood or Downs or one of the City of Annapolis Parks. The county now has two new Children’s Bike Safety Parks also known as “Traffic Gardens”. These are miniature safety courses where kids can learn safe bike handling, stopping, turning and signaling in a fun and safe environment. The Safety Parks are located at:
Lindale Middle School Bike Safety Park, 415 Andover Rd, Linthicum Heights, MD lower parking lot basketball courts. This is adjacent to the BWI Trail. The course also contains 7 beautiful murals depicting themes about Maryland, inclusivity, equity and a tribute to former Lindale student Mo Gaba, a Baltimore sports superfan who died of cancer in 2020. Odenton Seven Oaks Bike Safety Park, Plebes Cir., Odenton, MD. This great safety course was created by the Seven Oaks Community located just off Regiment Way on Plebes Circle.
Riders With Special Needs
We are fortunate to have Charlotte’s Tandems located here in Annapolis. Free tandem or tag-along bicycle rental to anyone with a disability or additional need, so that they can ride wherever, whenever they like. Tandems are a great way to get people with learning, visual, or physical difficulties, out cycling and it benefits the whole family. Learn more at https://abilitycycling.com
Mountain Biking
Looking for dirt, hills, roots and such? Click HERE for local a local off-road trail map. Try the new Bacon Ridge Trail System in Crownsville, Waterworks Park Trails in Annapolis, Patapsco Valley State Park, Patuxent Refuge or Rosaryville State Park.
Paved Trail Riders
Looking for a longer ride but prefer to stay off the road? Try one of the county trails like the B&A Trail, BWI Loop Trail or WB&A Trail. On the B&A you’ll find coffee, ice cream and lots of other fuel. For a longtrail ride up to 40 miles,try the B&A and BWI Trails combined using the Overstreet Connector Trail. Road Cyclists
Looking for distance, scenery and food stops? South Anne Arundel County is a favorite with bike clubs and road cyclists. Many start at the Davidsonville Park & Ride or Southern High School. Check out our ROUTE LIBRARY for listings from the local clubs and others. There are also routes with some significant climbing in the northern and western parts of the county. Many of these routes are part of the Anne Arundel County signature ride the Lifeline 100:
City of Annapolis
Annapolis offers many scenic cycling areas, if you are confident and comfortable sharing the road with motor vehicles. Check out the Annapolis Bike Map below for historic/scenic sites and routes.
