New and Refurbished Bikes For Adults and Kids in Need

BikePatrol&CentroBikes

Wheels of Hope is a collaboration among Anne Arundel County Food Bank, Anne Arundel Medical Center, Bicycle Advocates for Annapolis & Anne Arundel County, Anne Arundel County Police and Bike Doctor Crofton.   Together we  provide a fresh start to those in need in our local community.  We have supported adults entering sober living housing to help secure a fresh start with career placement, educational advancements, and meeting/counseling requirements, adults reentering society from prison, at risk adolescents who completed program requirements, high school athletes with transportation barriers to making practices, as well as low income communities including children with English as a second language.     We provide a helmet with each bike and other accessories as needed such as lights and locks.   Our mission is to provide community members in need with healthy transportation and recreation, protect our environment by reducing waste and to help those in need.   The program is based at the Anne Arundel County Food Bank in Crownsville, MD.

On behalf of all of us at our church and the committee working with our Afghan refugee family, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to you and your helpers.  We delivered the bikes and accessories yesterday and our Deacon and her husband went to give the young men a tutorial on the rules of the road for bike safety. The boys were over the moon with delight at receiving the bicycles.  Their mother was all smiles as well.  Thank you for your wonderful work!  You are truly a blessing!
